Parts of your glasses
It’s important to understand the various parts of your glasses. Here’s a quick explainer.
Your glasses frame is made up of several different parts. This includes the rims (the part surrounding the lenses), the bridge (the portion in between the lenses), and the nose pads (which keep them from sliding down your face). The portion that extends back toward your ears includes the hinges at the corner of your lenses, the temple (the skinny bar that goes back to the ears) and the temple tips (goes over the ear). To complete the picture, you have your prescription lenses. See our diagram below.

Common eyeglass repairs:
-
From eyeglass hinges, to the middle bridge, there’s many little parts on your glasses that can break. For hinges, we can order the proper screws and have them fixed promptly. If your frame breaks, we can attempt to weld it back together.
-
Bending your glasses back into shape yourself is always a risky proposition. We work with both metal and plastic frames, gently moving them back into place. We’ll also make sure that any glasses adjustments match the shape of your face.
-
Nose pads help keep your glasses from sliding down your face. Poorly aligned nose pads can also impact the general fitting and your vision. We can reattach them or make comfort adjustments.
-
You're bound to drop your glasses or scratch them up in some way. Don't struggle with blemishes. If we can fix them, we will. If not, we’ll help find an affordable replacement. If your lenses have a coating or special finish on them, you should always reach out to a professional (like us!).
